DCA Engages Stakeholders at 2025 Spring Ag-Fair—Afghanistan
The Dutch Committee for Afghanistan (DCA) actively participated in the 32nd Annual Spring Agricultural Fair held from May 1–4, 2025, at Badam Bagh, Kabul, Afghanistan. Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), the fair served as a national platform to promote agricultural innovation and strengthen value chains across the country.
DCA showcased its programs in five livestock-focused booths, featuring live demonstrations and displays of dairy processing machinery, veterinary field kits, beekeeping tools, wool spinning equipment, feed banks, and educational extension materials. Both male and female staff engaged with thousands of visitors, offering insights on topics such as backyard poultry farming, kitchen gardening, fodder cultivation, saffron farming, equine welfare, and the use of vaccines and quality animal medicines.
In addition to these technical demonstrations, DCA played a key role in strengthening rural value chains. Veterinary Field Units (VFUs) connected with herders to promote proper use of animal health products. Wool producers were introduced to one-stop shops for marketing, and herders were linked to Milk Collection Centers (MCCs) to enhance dairy sales. These efforts improved service delivery and market access for rural communities
DCA’s presence was widely appreciated by de facto authorities, NGOs, and the public. On the final day, educational materials including pens, notebooks, extension packages, and branded items were distributed. A notable moment was the visit from veterinary students from Parwan University, who expressed their appreciation for DCA’s work. One student remarked: “Today, we are truly happy to have participated in this event. We saw modern, professional tools used in the livestock industry and received extension materials that will benefit our studies. We hope to graduate and contribute to this important sector in the future”
DCA’s active engagement, field-based demonstrations, and strong stakeholder connections made a lasting impression and contributed significantly to the success of the 32nd Annual Spring Agricultural Fair.
