Dutch Committee for Afghanistan (DCA) took part in the 34th Annual Spring Agricultural Fair from April 22–25, 2026, at Badam Bagh in Kabul. The event, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), provided a nationwide platform to highlight agricultural innovation and reinforce value chains.

At the fair, DCA presented its work through six livestock-focused booths featuring live demonstrations and equipment displays, including dairy processing machines, veterinary kits, beekeeping tools, wool-spinning equipment, feed banks, and extension materials.

A dedicated Kuchi tent showcased processed dairy products. DCA staff interacted with thousands of visitors, sharing practical knowledge on extension services, backyard poultry, kitchen gardening, fodder production, saffron cultivation, and the proper use of vaccines and animal health products. A key highlight was the visit by the European Union delegation alongside the MAIL Deputy Minister, who engaged with DCA representatives and toured the exhibition booths. Beyond demonstrations, DCA contributed to strengthening rural market systems. Veterinary Field Units (VFUs) connected directly with livestock owners to encourage appropriate use of animal health services. Wool producers were introduced to integrated marketing outlets, while herders were linked with Milk Collection Centers (MCCs) to improve dairy market access. These efforts supported better service delivery and expanded economic opportunities for rural communities.

DCA’s participation received positive recognition from EU representatives, de facto authorities, NGOs, and the wider public. On the final day, educational and promotional materials, including notebooks, pens, and extension packages were distributed. Students from Kalakan district’s agriculture and veterinary institute also visited the booths, expressing appreciation for DCA’s field-based work. Through its active participation,hands-on demonstrations, and strong engagement with stakeholders, DCA made a meaningful contribution to the success of this year’s Spring Agricultural Fair.
